IS THERE SOMEONE I CAN TALK TO?

The Children’s Worker provides individual, group and family support which is aimed at reducing the impact of domestic abuse on the emotional health of children and young people. There is always a member of staff available that you or your child can talk to. Support is provided to parent/carers to enable them to recognise and respond to their children’s needs. All information will be kept confidential unless a child protection disclosure is made which may need to be passed on to another person who can help.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO AT NWA?

NWA has a part-time Children and Young People’s Worker who can organise play and learning activities for different age groups. We have indoor and outdoor children’s play areas, with plenty of play equipment and toys.

WILL SOMEONE HELP WITH FINDING A SCHOOL?

The Support Staff and Children’s Worker at NWA will provide you with information about local schools and availability of places. They will support you in completing the necessary paperwork and where possible attend the initial interview at the school with you.

CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE’S OUTREACH SUPPORT SERVICE

The Children and Young People’s Outreach Service provides one-to-one support for children and young people who have experienced or are living with domestic abuse.

We recognise that children and young people are adversely affected by their experiences of domestic abuse. Children’s self esteem and confidence can be destroyed. They can feel scared, guilty, embarrassed, angry, confused, sad and lonely.

Our aim is to reduce the impact of their experiences of domestic abuse around health, emotional and social well-being, self esteem and education.

The service is available to children and young people living in the Newark and Sherwood area who are aged between 5 and 13 years old.

The Children and Young People’s Outreach Support Worker’s post is part-time, 13 hours, which are covered over the following days:

  • Monday 9.30am – 3.00pm
  • Wednesday 9.30am – 3.00pm
  • Friday 3.00pm – 5.00pm
